Like it or not, technology is constantly evolving. And as we have seen over the years, watches have started to mean something different to a lot of people. Whether it be a gym junkie, an elderly or a college student, the evolvement of technology has shed a new light onto what a wristwatch can do and the role it plays in ones life. Let’s face it, not many of us need a traditional wristwatch to tell the time anyways. But what if I told you that a watch in today’s world can actually do much more than just tell time? What if a watch could measure your heart rate, track the quality of your sleep, calories burnt and alert you whenever there’s a new notification? Personally, I would be sold.
But with everything, there’ll always be two sides of the coin. A group that’s heavily against it, and the ones who don’t mind it. So, let’s talk about why these things are worth considering. First off, it blends into pretty much any lifestyle. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or an office worker who is desk-diving all day, there’s always a place for a smartwatch in your watch box. Because if you think about it, it actually tracks data related to your wellbeing that will elevate your lifestyle when used to your advantage. Which brings me to the main point of having a smart watch, the health awareness that a smartwatch indirectly brings into your life. Something that traditional watchmaking doesn’t have and thus, making it a watch that can easily slide into any collection. Not mentioning it being a solid competitor to a time-only watch due to its functionality.
Of course, there’s always the “it’s not a real watch” argument but does it really matter? I’d argue that a smartwatch punches well above its weight. I mean, you can even answer calls on some of these little guys. Yes, it doesn’t have a charming story where it can be passed down to the next generation but that was never the point. Nor does it have any sexy history that came from times of war. But again, as always, watches should be appreciated for what they are. And in this case, it’s meant to be a tool that integrates with any lifestyle. As a matter of fact, there’s arguably an irreplaceable tech vibe that comes with a smartwatch that a traditional wristwatch can’t pull off. All in all, these little guys are worth giving a chance! Trust me, you might get addicted to their capabilities.
